Beginning is often the hardest part of a creative endeavor: the empty page, the feeling that there is too much to hold together, or not yet knowing what the essence of your project even is. And Thinking at the Edge (TAE) can make that moment even more challenging because it requires something very specific to begin with: a felt sense. People often hesitate at this point, not due to a lack of depth, but because the felt sense hasn’t yet taken shape.

That’s exactly what my new course is designed to address: “Thinking at the Edge from Anywhere” makes the entry point more practical while staying true to TAE’s philosophical roots. We’ll treat the TAE steps as flexible tools, rearranging, reversing, and modifying them as needed. We’ll apply them to explore multiple ways to start from what you already have: images, incidents, tensions, words that don’t quite fit, questions, and even vague “not-yet” feelings like interest or longing.

You’ll learn how to build the internal context that allows a felt sense to form. Additionally, we will address other challenges in ensuring a successful TAE process, such as managing upcoming personal concerns, sustaining the emergence process over time, and integrating existing and new ideas.

Course format (live on Zoom):

  • 4 sessions, 2 hours each, with guided experiential processes, breakout practice, and time for questions and integration.
  • One individual session to clarify how to proceed and work on specific challenges.

Schedule:

Thursdays: March 19, March 26, April 2, April 9; 11:00 am–1:00 pm Eastern Time (EDT)

If you have a project you care about but haven’t found the starting point yet, or if you’d like to give TAE another shot, this course is for you.
